About Miss Koontz
Currently
This is my third year teaching at Rapoport Academy and I am very excited for another year of working with second graders! I enjoy teaching very much and am honored to work with such terrific teachers, parents and students.
Background Information
I am a very proud graduate of Baylor University, having earned my Bachelor of Science in Education in May of 2010. I grew up in a combination of cities; mostly Kansas City, Missouri, Fort Worth, Texas and Haslet, Texas, which is a rural "suburb" of Fort Worth. I have been a resident of Waco for 6 years now and wouldn't have it any other way! I am excited to say that I have lived in Waco longer than any other city in my entire life! :-)
Why do I teach?
In third grade, I had the most extraordinary teacher a girl could imagine-- especially being the new student in a whole new state. She taught me everything I needed to know, and challenged me to be the best student I could be. In college, I decided to become a teacher so I could impact students' lives the way she impacted my life. Just before graduating from Baylor, I ran across a quote from Nelson Mandela, which reads, "Education is the greatest weapon which you can use to change the world." As the world keeps moving and changing, my vision is to see students from all backgrounds become catalysts for forward motion in this world, in all professions and walks of life-- and I greatly believe in the means of education to drive students toward world-changing success!
Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy reading, painting, drawing, writing, watching football and baseball, and all things Baylor!
